Homeschool Podcast #5
Blueberry Pie from Scratch
Do you want to make your kids and husband happy tonight? You can do that by making them a homemade blueberry pie from scratch? I can help you with that! We make a delicious fresh blueberry pie with a gram cracker crust. I am a busy homeschool mom and homeschool curriculum provider. So when my son was asking for a fresh blueberry pie I knew it would be somewhat of a time commitment. After my son asked for a blueberry pie for over two weeks I knew it was time we had some family baking time.
I purchased a gram cracker crust from the store along with fresh blueberries from the produce section. We dream of having fresh blueberries from our garden but until that happens we get our blueberries from the store.
Next, you will need to round up the other ingredients for making a blueberry pie from scratch. You will probably have the other ingredients at home because if you are a stay at home mom like me you do some baking from now and then. You will also need 3 spoonful of flour, a pinch of salt, water, sugar, and a splash of vinegar!
Round up a small bowl and fill it with:
- 3 tablespoons of flour
- ¼ teaspoon of salt
- 1/3 cup of water
Then, mix it together! Set aside for later.
Now, warm up a medium sauce pan with the following ingredient:
- 3/4 cup of sugar
- 1 cup of blueberries
- 2/3 cup of water
Bring these ingredients to a boil while stirring constantly for 4-6 minutes. Then add flour mixture and return to a boil while constantly stirring.
- Lastly, add ½ teaspoon of vinegar and 5 cups of blueberries to hot blueberry mixture.
Pour hot mixture into gram cracker crust and refrigerate for 3-4 hours. Enjoy your blueberry pie from scratch!
